Cusco, Women's Weaving, Pisac, Inca Bar, Ollantaytambo & Train To Aguas Calientes
Day 1: Sacred Valley and Train to Machu Picchu
At 7:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to begin this unforgettable excursion. We will depart from Cusco heading toward Pisac, and during the journey, you’ll enjoy stunning landscapes and traditional villages along the way.
We will make a stop at the town of Pisac, where you can admire its picturesque surroundings before arriving at the Pisac archaeological site. Here, you will learn about the history of the Incas, their impressive Inca architecture, and the agricultural terraces they built. After exploring the archaeological site, we will descend to the town of Pisac, where you can visit some local jewelry shops and buy handmade souvenirs before continuing our journey.
We will then continue our trip, passing through several traditional villages, until we reach Urubamba, where you will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch at a local restaurant.
Next, you will continue along the Urubamba River to the picturesque village of Ollantaytambo, known as a “living Inca town”, where many residents still live in the original houses built by the Incas. At Ollantaytambo, you will explore the archaeological site, which features impressive stone constructions, terraces, and ceremonial structures, including rock formations representing Wiraccocha, the Andean creator god.
After visiting the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes. Depending on availability and your booking time, the train will depart at 3:37 p.m. or 7:04 p.m. The scenic train ride through the Andes takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes station, a member of our team will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel, where you will spend the night. You will also be given information about the itinerary for the following day, including your visit to Machu Picchu.
