DAY

The Most Important Day - Machu Picchu!

Today, we will reach the climax of our trek, the long awaited finale – Machu Picchu! To fully experience this mystical site, we will rise early in the morning, hike for 2 hours from Wiñay Wayna to the Sun Gate or “Inti Punku”, and witness the sunrise over this ancient citadel. From this viewpoint, we will have a breathtaking view of the entire grandiose site. After the hike, we will enter the hidden Royal Citadel of the Incas, where we will take a two-hour guided tour of the ruins. Our expert guide will take us through temples, terraces, palaces, priestly houses, the sundial, the industrial sector and the cultivated fields. The engineering genius of the Incas will leave us in awe. Without modern tools, steel or iron, they managed to create this sustainable and beautiful community on the side of a mountain, with canals for water supply. After the excursion, you can choose to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, or hike to the Inca Bridge. You can also walk to the Sun Gate, which is the main entrance from the Inca Trail. You can enjoy this magnificent city for as long as you wish before taking the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes. If time permits, you can have lunch, visit the hot springs and explore the town and its handicraft market. At 4:22 pm (subject to availability), we will take the train to Ollantaytambo, where a private bus will pick up our group and drop you off at your hotel in Cusco around 8:00 pm. Although your feet and body may need rest, we guarantee that your heart will keep flying for weeks and years to come.
