DAY
1

Cusco, Women's Weaving, Pisac, Inca Bar, Ollantaytambo & Train To Aguas Calientes

At 7:30 a.m., your expert guide will pick you up at your hotel to begin the excursion. The first stop will be an impressive viewpoint of the city of Cusco, followed by a visit to the indigenous people with a long tradition of weaving textiles using wool from their llamas and alpacas, colored with natural dyes derived from plants and minerals. These textiles are woven by hand using very simple and traditional techniques.

Afterwards, you will continue by bus, stopping at a viewpoint to appreciate the beauty of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and one of the main areas where the Incas settled. You will also see the Sacred River of the Incas. From there, you will head to Pisac, where you will learn about the Inca culture, its history, architecture and impressive agricultural terraces.

Next, you will enjoy lunch in the Sacred Valley and then visit the Inca Bar to learn how the Incas and even the locals prepare that sacred drink. Afterwards, you will drive along the Urubamba River to the village of Ollantaytambo, considered a living museum where you can see the locals living in the same houses the Incas lived in long ago.

You will visit the Inca site, a fascinating area of Inca constructions built during the golden period of the Incas, including rock formations representing the creator of the Andean World, Wiraccocha. You will then take the train to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night in a hotel. The train departs Ollantaytambo at 15:37 or 19:04, depending on how far in advance you book and/or train availability.

The local train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. You will stay at the Hotel Taypikala – Intipunku – La Cabaña (or similar) and meals are included.
